Two for the road

It's been a busy few weeks here at the Funhouse. Big ups to my man Darrick at the SF Weekly for these.

Halloween on The Castro. Hopefully I'll get to do another where the guy is pissing on a yule log for Christmas on The Castro this month--

At last, the SF Weekly!

I did a spot for the Night & Day section. I've been waiting 8 YEARS for them to call! Pick it up this Wednesday. For extra credit, write the editor and tell him how awesome it is.

Stumptown!

"Yes, Stumptown has come and gone" slurs Funhouse mainman Fredo "and I have little in the way of money or comics to show for it but the memories...oh the memories!" You can also find some pictures here.

"Sales were just so-so." he continues "Guys, no more Friday/Saturday cons, okay?". SPX reportedly suffered from this as well. "Can't complain though, I jump at any opportunity to go to Portland. Everything was pretty well received. Of the few comics I got there, Bad Grades by Carla Yacenda and Fathers and Sons by Elijah J. Brubaker stand out."

Portland has become the land of cartoonists in the last few years. Ranks have swollen with the recent relocation of Jesse Reklaw, Andrice Arp, T. Edward Bak, Zack Soto and others. The city is also home to industry heavy-hitters Dark Horse, Top Shelf and Oni.

IN OTHER NEWS

Circus Peanut has been pulled from the Funhouse catalog

Rarely has a comic turned heads and then stomachs like this book. The fall-out has landed directly on that lousy nogoodnik, Dirty Sanchez. "Do sumpin' wif elves and leather", he wrote in a leaked internal memo "Dat shit is funny to me, an' I know funny! I am Dirty Sanchez, yo!". Well guess what else you are, Dirty. Fired! That's what! Pack your bindle and hit the bricks!

Until Dirty's position is filled, the incomparable Phil Legris will step up handling quality control as well as creative direction. "What's another hat?" he was quoted as saying earlier "I already wear The Funhouse Fez, Bowler and Beret. Just throw Sanchez's Sombrero on top after you take it to the drycleaner.". What a trooper! Among projects he'll be assisting on are the long awaited B'Nau-5000 #2 and Black Sheep #3. Stay tuned.

Until next time, BOOYAH!
