You can also find some pictures here.

"Sales were just so-so." he continues "Guys, no more Friday/Saturday cons, okay?". SPX reportedly suffered from this as well. "Can't complain though, I jump at any opportunity to go to Portland. Everything was pretty well received. Of the few comics I got there, Bad Grades by Carla Yacenda and Fathers and Sons by Elijah J. The fall-out has landed directly on that lousy nogoodnik, Dirty Sanchez. "Do sumpin' wif elves and leather", he wrote in a leaked internal memo "Dat shit is funny to me, an' I know funny! I am Dirty Sanchez, yo!". Well guess what else you are, Dirty. Fired! That's what! Pack your bindle and hit the bricks!

Until Dirty's position is filled, the incomparable Phil Legris will step up handling quality control as well as creative direction. "What's another hat?" he was quoted as saying earlier "I already wear The Funhouse Fez, Bowler and Beret. Just throw Sanchez's Sombrero on top after you take it to the drycleaner.". What a trooper! Among projects he'll be assisting on are the long awaited B'Nau-5000 #2 and Black Sheep #3. Stay tuned.

Until next time, BOOYAH!
Percy GondwanaFredohttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01755889931922736164noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-25923911.post-1161308375126129352006-10-19T18:25:00.000-07:002006-10-19T21:00:36.783-07:00SPXceteraSPX went relatively well. Sales on BlackSheep #2 were healthy, though hardly staggering. This is due to a couple of things: Greater D.C. is a considerably more conservative area than my own Bay Area or New York (where my sales are always much better) there were also issues with traffic flow (or lack of) in the convention center itself. For most of the first day only one door was open at the far corner of the hall. The few people who made it all the way around to our side were pretty well picked clean. They opened two more doors on the second day, which helped considerably. Still, Friday sales (and, really...a Friday con in that area is just foolish) were so abysmal that the rally on Saturday didn't make up for it.

The new location is far from ideal as well. It's several stops up in White Flint and doesn't have half the accoutrements that the old location does. The closest restaurants were Arby's and McDonalds. Locating essentials like beer proved to be
pretty difficult too.

Don't get me wrong, it wasn't all bad! I really enjoyed hanging out with my friends and table mates, Geoff Vasille (Trackrabbit) Joe Sayers (Thingpart) and Justin Decarlo (Hypertoast). I also got to meet a few people that I've encountered only in the pages of anthologies and online like Onsmith, Eleanor Davis and Kaz(imir). There's more but I can't remember them right now through the haze of beer.

IN OTHER NEWS

Dirty Sanchez has been released from his contract in the Funhouse Quality Assurance Department for reasons that I can't discuss (seriously, don't ask). Stay tuned for the announcement of his replacement.

Former Funhouse Quality Assurance Fictitious Person Dirty SanchezFredohttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01755889931922736164noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-25923911.post-1160334749633009612006-10-08T12:09:00.000-07:002006-10-08T12:15:28.770-07:00BlackSheep # 2

Premiering at SPX.Fredohttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01755889931922736164noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-25923911.post-1159216494329490742006-09-25T12:38:00.000-07:002006-09-25T13:38:00.920-07:00October events and WIPsHowdy!

Yes, I haven't posted a damn thing since July, but that's a good thing! I promised this since last June...yes, I meant to do three issues a year...so sue me. Events just haven't worked out as I'd planned. Fortunately I've now regained my momentum. I've been burning the midnight oil to premier this at SPX. Stay tuned for more previews. I'll be tabling with the incomparable Joe Sayers and the formidable Geoff Vasile. I'm planning to chase this release with the completion of the long-awaited B'Nau-5000 .

Following hot on the heels of SPX I will be at Stumptown, table #16 in the Bay Area ghetto. Hopefully this will encourage me to post a little more often. Meanwhile, here's the old news. More as it comes.

Saturday, 25 June 2005

Black Sheep and MoCCA
June 11th and 12th was the MoCCA convention http://www.moccany.org/index.html at New York's Puck Building. This was my first year tabling and I must say, I was not disappointed. There were a great many off-the-street attendees and an unheard of mix of men, women, young, old...a few crazies, but that's to be expected at a comic convention. Sales were healthy but, as we were 3000 miles from home in the city that makes San Francisco look affordanle, the take home was negligible. I did get to hang out in my second favorite city during some of the hottest, most humid days of the year (it even made MY hair curl)and we met Joe Coleman: You can view the rest of the pictures here: http://www.kodakgallery.com/PhotoView.jsp?&collid=813709895203&photoid=713709895203

I debuted my new book Black Sheep at MoCCA. It's been in the planing stages for more years than I care to mention, much of it predating the first Shpilkes. Here's the press release.

Black Sheep is my new thrice yearly series. It continues the one-man-anthology format started in Shpilkes but features a new and infinitely more pronounceable title. This issue features part one of the six chapter "Neighborhood of the Beast". Our hero Ivan apartment hunting. His limited budget forces him to the wrong side of the tracks and over his head. "Neighborhood of the Beast" explores the darker side of suburbia that popular culture ignores.
